Our mission is to close the enterprise financing gap below 0.5 Mio $ for local WASH SMEs in developing countries by providing flexible loans, guarantees, catalytic grants and technical assistance to enable them to access larger investments and create impact at scale.
We envision a world with a thriving private WASH sector, complementing government and NGO efforts to reach the over 2 billion people without safely managed drinking water and the 3.5 billion without safely managed sanitation delivering sustainable solutions at scale through innovative, well-funded enterprises.
The MajiFund is a flexible, targeted funding facility backed by technical assistance and designed for local, impact-driven Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) SMEs. It contributes to the broader goal of transforming the private WASH sector from grant-dependent and NGO-led models to sustainable, market-driven enterprises through financing and business model support.
The MajiFund is a collaborative initiative born out of the Majipreneurs Alliance that aims to provide consistent and continuous ecosystem development and business support for WASH entrepreneurs in the Global South. The MajiFund serves as a post-acceleration enterprise development mechanism, addressing the financing gap for WASH enterprises that are not yet commercially viable but have strong potential for growth and impact.
The MajiFund provides high-risk repayable finance in the range of $50,000 to $350,000, as well as catalytic accompanying grants and technical assistance to develop scalable, high-impact WASH SMEs. With these measures, the MajiFund is generating a pipeline for larger impact or commercial investors and financiers in the WASH impact space.

MajiFund creates a pipeline for follow-up investment. With lean management processes and a mix of philanthropic and commercial capital, the MajiFund can issue small-ticket investments. This allows entrepreneurs to build a track record and eventually become investment and impact ready for larger investments.

The MajiFund benefits from close connection to Cewas’ Maji accelerators, which have supported over 70 WASH enterprises through a competitive selection and intensive 18-month program combining water and sanitation impact with commercial viability.
To date, the WASH enterprises supported by cewas have provided new or improved access to water and sanitation services for over 5 million people. Our goal is to quadruple this reach to 20 million people by 2030. The MajiFund is our core instrument to achieve this ambition. Within five years, at least ten of our investees will have experienced exponential growth, reaching hundreds of thousands of customers. They will have secured multi-million-dollar investments and scaled their efficient, safe, and inclusive business models – establishing themselves as widely recognized providers of WASH services.
