Professional collection and safe disposal of faecal sludge is a challenge in Uganda. This can lead to filled-up toilets and environmental and health risks. The market for pit emptying is highly fragmented and there is a lack of high quality services that are professionally managed, controlled and regulated.

Brilliant Sanitation provides high-quality latrine emptying services across Uganda, offering services in both urban and rural areas targeting households, institutions, schools. They have served 217 unique clients to date. By 2027, Brilliant Sanitation aims to scale their operations to three new cities beyond Kampala, construct and manage a faecal sludge treatment site, and reach up to 1 million beneficiaries.
